About

A Space To Remember (ASTR) is an affirmation & mental wellness platform that helps users to think and be happier through optimised affirmation discovery and consumption. Initially, a side project to help refocus after the passing of my mum, ASTR helps many people build out their bespoke spaces for accessing and consuming affirmations to promote healthier and more intentional thoughts.

Where do we get affirmations from?

Our collection features both original and curated affirmations from various mediums. When sourced, we try our best to source where we found the affirmation to make it easier for our users to visit the source. It’s important to understand that just because an affirmation was sourced from a particular place or person DOES NOT always mean they are the creators of said affirmation. Users can create private and public (to be made live soon) affirmations, meaning that not all affirmations featured in the feed will be reviewed immediately by ASTR auditors. We have some automated tests in place, i.e. to stop the introduction of duplicates, but some checks still have to be done in person. In this case, if an ASTR auditor finds a public affirmation does not meet our desired community guidelines, we may need to revert the affirmation to private or remove it entirely. Either way, we’ll reach out to you.

How can I consume my affirmations?

Our primary method of consumption is our web app, which is easily accessible on all devices and provides you with some of our growing features, including but not limited to our point of view adjuster (perspective switch), readings, browser companion, space creator and more. We’re continually looking at ways to maximise the enablement of a healthier, happy mindset, so if you have any cool ideas that will enhance how you interact with ASTR, please let me know.

Made with the support of

A Space To Remember wouldn’t have been possible without the support of friends and family that helped turn the initial idea into something tangible and, to this day, make time to allow me to bounce ideas off them. This list includes but is not limited to Phillip Akuamoah Boateng, David Silcott, Ria Rose, and Mohammed A Ibrahim – thank you.

Who am I?

My name is Leon Silcott, and I founded A Space To Remember. I am an SRE/Platform engineer by day and a father, solopreneur, and tech enthusiast for the other 28/7 – as you may eventually learn if I figure out this whole social media thing 😅.

I’ve worked for various companies, small and large, ranging from Media to Fintech to Telecommunication and more, and built out many tools, processes and systems etc., to improve developer experience and department velocity. Using what I know and am yet to learn, I aim to bring you an affirmation platform that can be personalised to you like no other.

I appreciate all your support on this journey.
